Contrary to what we all think, its less about driving and loyalty, and more about your credit history and marital status. According to Consumer Reports (September 2015) loyalty in the insurance industry is a one-way street. Shopping your policy every couple of years or so should get you a better rate.
Consumer reports looked at more than 700 insurance companies and reviewed over 2 billion insurance price quotes over a 2-year period.
